Frustration on the face of John boy just
wants to be a rock n roll man TODAY
so the dream electric guitar man buys
himself a bass to play and for like most of
the British boys then art school was just
a place to read the NME and you say
you were naive somebody else in those
ruffle-shirts yeah dream of all the women
as many as you can do
remember that year?
thought hot Montserrat sand was gonna
do some good but guess not made you
feel like a God-damned monk gotta get
off so you tour America road life was
surreal as the seventh stranger and a
party pretty as platinum yeah gonna
down all the whiskey as fast as you can
remember that year?
and all the while time's ticking
something happening alarm clock
ringing now and all I could do was save
a prayer that you'd wake up and so
now John man makes music with his
favorite bass now he's awake to the
images fencing him in can tell you're
sick talking of Duran yesterdays once
again you're explaining just wanna be a
music man but will this single go you
always worry about it your image in the
mirror is attractive to me and every
woman I know agrees but you know
that's not all I see yeah hope you will
