Duran Duran is in the studio working on a new album, while guitarist Warren Cuccurullo is preparing for the release of his upcoming instrumental live album, titled Roadrage.
Collectively, the group is holed up in the London studio Privacy recording new songs for their upcoming as- yet- untitled album, which is due out in early 1999 on an unnamed label, according to a spokesperson for Duran Duran. Two such songs for this album include "Lady Xanax" and "Hallucinating Elvis" The work is expected to be finished by the end of summer. No further information is known about which label will be releasing the album, since Duran Duran left Capitol Records earlier this year (allstar, Jan. 26).
As for Cuccurullo, he is looking at a late-1998 release for Roadrage on his label Lo-Fi, which he co-owns with Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes. Tracks for the live album include "Suddenly Spring", "The Beating", "The First One", "Whatever, You Say, Mack", and "Discoveries" as well as Frank Zappa's "Transylvania Boogie" and "Willie the Pimp" and Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" for which he wrote the music. The album is culled from shows in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, and London from 1994 through 1996. His touring band members Joe Travers and Wes Wehmiller both appear on the album, as does his brother Jerry Cuccurullo and Kajagoogoo's Nick Beggs. It is expected to be released in Japan first, followed by Europe, and then the U.S. -Tina Johnson
