DURAN DURAN REDUCED TO PAYING FANS

Fans are paid £30 to cheer on Duran Duran.

Fading 80's group Duran Duran have hit an all time low paying punters £30 each to watch them play. Simon Le Bon's band hoped they would be beseiged after they put an add in their fanzine, asking loyal Durannies to come to the performance being filmed for a TV movie. But were left red faced when only 20 showed up at the BBC West London Studios for the filming of Hunting Venus. Worried Assistants had to frantically recruit another 80 people off the streets at £30 a time to get them to pose as fans for the day. A source said "It was so humiliating for the band, they had put an advert in their fanzine called 'Lake Shore Driving' and expected to get a huge turnout, but only 20 fans showed up.". They couldn't beleive it because Duran Duran used to be so popular. The crew needed people to pose as adoring teenagers to cheer Simon as he arrived to play a gig in the film but it didn't happen. It dosen't seem that long ago since they were playing stadiums around the world. Hunting Venus stars Men Behaving Badly, Neil Morrissey. It tells the story of an 80's rock band who reform and features live performances. Le Nob was asked to appear along side The Human League and Ultavox at the Beebs White City Studios. But gone are the days when Simon and the boys were followed around the world by besotted fans after chart hits like "Rio", "Reflex" and "Wild Boys". Their last album Medazzaland did badly in the US and EMI have no plans to release it over here, and members Roger and Andy Taylor have quit (Hello, what decade is this!? -ed. note). Looks like the 80's revival won't be featuring Duran Duran.
