Simon, for one, was pretty thrilled that France won The World Cup. He was pretty psyched that France won on their home turf, much like England did during the 1966 World Cup, which Simon remembers as being "Amazing."

From Cybersleaze May 19th column: CELEBRITY NOT AGING WELL SIGHTING OF THE WEEK: My London buddies tell me that they spotted DURAN DURAN frontman SIMON LE BON showing off his rather suspect dancing skills at a record release party for the SMASHING PUMPKINS at London's trendy MOMO bar recently. Apparently everyone there was highly amused by Le Bon's antics, except of course the SMASHING PUMPKINS themselves, who look rather embarrassed that Le Bon was even at the party let alone there showing off his moves. Doh!! It is funny how a hefty cocaine habit can make you act like a total fool in front of a roomful of your peers, isn't it?? THE TRUTH HURTS! (Official word from the band was that he wasn't on any substances but he did sing Night Boat. &endash;ed. note)

from Rocktropolis: "A tribute album, a greatest hits album, and all that old Duran Duran vinyl isn't enough for you? The Japanese- based company Syn Studios, owned by Duran Duran's Simon LeBon and partner Nick Wood, just scored the new Orinoco credit card commercial, starring '90s brat- pack poster boy Leonardo DiCaprio. Don't get excited, though -- the commercials will only air in Japan."

Here is a blurb from an upcoming article on Syn that will appear in Audio/Media Magazine: "Reporting from the 51st Annual Cannes Film Festival, Adrienne Aiken spoke with Simon Le Bon, Nick Wood and Mario Van Peebles at the premiere of Love Kills: 'Were really proud to have done this music for Marios movie' Simon explained, 'Its also been great fun to come here to Cannes during the Film Festival to showcase the songs that Nick and I have worked on. We played 'Dream Boyz' on stage during the party that followed the screening of the movie. That was the first time I had played solo, well Nick was there of course, but I mean without Duran Duran and just with an acoustic guitar for 17 years!"

There is a very short clip with Simon in Cannes in latest addition of the E! Sex on the Rivera 98. (Look for numerous repeats!)

Simon is going to have a cameo appearance in a British movie called "Hunting Venus".

Simon and his partner Nick Wood performed to a packed house at the Cannes Film Festival. They were promoting their song Dream Boys from the film, "Love Kills". No word on when the soundtrack will be released as of yet, but Simon also wrote "Cupid's A Hitman" while Nick scored the film.

Simon was a special guest at the Smashing Pumpkins show that was held a few days ago. He joined the band on stage and they performed "Night Boat"! The show was taped for an upcoming segment of MTV Europe's "Live From The 5 Spot". There's a chance that Simon's portion could be included.

Simon performed "Dream Boy" on a French TV station.

Syn Studios, the Japanese based company owned by Duran Duran's Simon LeBon and composer Nick Wood, have been chosen to score and write new songs for the upcoming Mario Van Peebles film, LOVE KILLS.

While Japanese-based Wood does the main composing, LeBon is writing new songs for the film. As LeBon tours with Duran Duran, he and Wood operate long distance, and compile material for director Van Peebles via the ISDN Musicam CODEC. The duo, via their association with Film Music Associates, plan on working on other film scores this year.

There was a small interview with Simon aired in October 18's Fox Network news reports. Not much was revealed, although Simon said he watches the Discovery Channel. He also said the song "Michael, You've Got A Lot To Answer For" is about a friend of his, and he looked kind of shy and did not elaborate. Note that he did not say it was written about John.

Hello! Magazine from the week of October 7 has a big article and front cover picture of Gail Elliots' wedding (she's some supermodel Yasmin is apparently friends with), at which Yasmin and all three little LeBon kiddies were bridesmaids. There are lots of nice photos of the girls, and two of Simon, where he looks very quietly dressed, except for some food he spilt on his lapel. (This is just too easy to comment on, so I'll leave it alone -bitchy ed. note) Simon is only mentioned as being Yasmin's husband in a photo, and not listed in the text as being a celebrity guest. Can anyone say diss?
