On the end of each right hand Joy-Con is an infrared sensor.

This IR sensor can detect hand shape as well as distance which developers can take advantage of.

Presumed similar to the Wii and Wii U home buttons.
This is where NFC can be read or written to and will be used to interface with Amiibo.
Record Button
The left Joy-Con controller will feature a game play record button.
this button will eventually allow sharing game play as well.
